Blog #2

DId you know? by John Strange

This rendition of the Did you know by Fisch and Mcleod was more up-to-date tying in facebook generation into the informative stuff. I would like to comment about the way the information was presented in the Strange version. The information was presented in a powerpoint clutter. The original version has the information timed to where the information can be digested alot easier. Strange version of did you know modernized and upto date with the times. The Information that was presented in both old and new version of Did You Know was very informative. The numbers of the Chinese and Indian population are fitting for these statistics. The the indian and Chinese populations are in the billions. So for our population to be covered within the 25 percent would be precise.

Mr. Winkle Wakes
This short video discusses how fast technology has advanced over 100 year span. The technology is moving and developing at an alarming rate but students are being brought up to date in class. Although technology is advancing at these rates there is a place for learning and keeping up in classes today.

Importance of creativity
This short film goes through and discusses the importance and lack of creativity in the school environment. Kids are subjected to conformity, the focus over the last couple of decades have been place on Mathematics and Language. These are some of the key elements need to navigate through the career fields as adults. By placing more of enforence on these so called key subjects, we are stiffuling the creative ability of kids today. with tht being said the kids today are less likely to put their ideas in action for fear of failure, while fearing failure they are stagnenet in their mental limitations that have been educated into them. Education goes in small does and creativity finds itself on the back burner.

A Day made with glass

In watching the two videos on a day made of glass the key thing that stood out to me is that he family through their home, school and work routines have capitalized on the uses of the glass screen being presnet. The family was able to use them at home in the capacity of getting prepared for the day ahead. The use was also extended out of the home whe the tablet like glass being utilzed into the car on the way to school and work. once at schol the glass was used in the daily lesons as smart boards are being introduced and used in todays public and private schools alike. The video further goes on to show how it is being used in the office at work. All in all the glass merged the tasks and made things run smoother in its many applications. In using the glass in eeryday aspect of life there seemed to be a cut back on several other materials which would be utilized during a regular day. For example in the school application there was a coloring or graphing exercise that was done on the glass. These types of activities expose student to differnt materials textures and allow them to create certain parts of a class or group assignment. While the technlogy is shown to be very useful in certain types of applications it should be utiliezed in moderation. A day using the glass tablet is a day into the future but is that taking away from the creativity and innovations of our past?

  1. You must have a Title on every post. If the post is a Blog Assignment, the Title should be Blog Assignment # whatever (or Blog Post # the number). For this post it should be Blog Assignment #2 (or Blog Post #2). If you do not name it properly we may miss it because of the sorting process we use.

  3. Hi Cyrus!
I've enjoyed reading your post. I agree with your final views on "A Day Made of Glass". With all of this new technology that is evolving, I worry that we'll become too dependent upon it. It should definitely be used in moderation.
I have a couple of suggestions for your next post. Before posting, make sure that you take a couple of minutes to proof read. I noticed several words that were spelled incorrectly and some grammatical errors that could be easily fixed. Also, make sure that you are getting your point across clearly with each topic. Your opinion of "Mr. Winkle Wakes" was a little confusing.
Other than that, I've enjoyed reading your thoughts of these videos!
Good luck with your next post!

  4. Hey Cyrus,

I'm not sure what you meant on your comments dealing with "Mr. Winkle Wakes". Could you explain what you mean differently?

Overall, your post was good, but you have some mistakes you need to correct. I don't think you use a comma in the whole post. This makes your post hard to read. Just as Meredith suggested, proofread your post before you publish. You also need to make sure you are using links and pictures in every post.
